Welcome to Buru!

Here you can find a rather large Buru-English Dictionary, which takes some time to download, many Buru tales, not all of which have been translated into English, and various notes about Buru oral literature.

But before you look at any buru texts, be sure to take note of the orthography I have used , otherwise you may find yourself confused or even end up mispronouncing Buru words.

And finally, for those seriously interested in Buru culture and thinking, here is Yan Hukunala (Gewagit taun) to explain. He used to be one of my Sunday School pupils in Liang, and see! I taught him so well that he was able to impart all of this Buru material to me (Chaumont Devin) in only three short weeks during September of 1992 at the home of Oom Daniel Luhukay on the hill beside Gereja Gideon in Air Mata Cina in Ambon!
