The Muals of Durian Patah, Leihitu: Tante Ta Tahalea Hitiahubesi's father's father was a Mual, but he didn't legally marry his wife, a Tahalea, so that his children received the name, Tahalea. Tante Ta says that the old people didn't usually get married legally (nika). The Muals had a sago grove called "Meme Hina Mual," at the Meme-hina stream, behind Durian Patah. It is said that the Muals bought this land from Halong people. The Meme-hina is the stream that runs past the two earthen caves that tunnel into the mountainside, of which I explored one as a child. It is the stream we all used to love to swim in, the deep one running right behind Durian Patah.
