The following taken from the Patisahusiwa manuscript lent me by his son, Bakri, in Namlea: SUPA The people of Supa (Banyan Tree), Ceram, say that their village name symbolizes the protection that their village has offered to all races that have come there, like wandering birds, to take cover in its branches. They also have the name "Supa Maraina", signifying the over-sheltering nature of the tribe Some tribes, like birds, in the branches of a banyan tree have come and gone away. Others have nested in the branches of Supa. There is a mountain, Murkele Kecil, associated with the tribe, which once also had a queen named Aluha. The following is the genealogy of the Soa Hela Patona, of Supa: Note: s=son, d=daughter, digits indicate individuals, ?=not 100% certain. "Names ending in "ij" on the family tree I borrowed from Bakri Patisahusiwa have been truncated to "i." Embedded occurrances of "ij" have been converted to "y." The name, Poeoi, was converted to Puoi. This geneology has also been presented to P.T.J.M.P.I. Resident Tanah who came to Hela about the year 1932, and P.T.J.M.I. Insj. Roder, who came to Hela about 1936. There are two tombstones called "Hatu-sili" at Hela, to the north of Maraina Village. These 2 stones belong to the Soas Hela-Potona and Hela-Kita. They were erected by Kainusa, who was Latu-Nusa (king of the island). The original inhabitants of the area were the Hela tribe, who dwelt on the lower slopes of Murkele-Besar and Murkele Kecil.
